Good morning from Waco TX! Last night we crashed just outside of Austin in a town called Waco, we had a very spacious room and ordered pizza yummy! Today’s ambitious plan was to head to Fort Worth and then onto Dallas
After eventually arriving at Fort Worth, we found it was somewhat like going back in time. There was a little Street with its own train station and lots of horse and carts going up and down. It was very orange and made to look like an old Western. On arrival here we could not for the life of us find the parking and decided to make our goals for the day a little clearer and think about what to do with the time we have.
We had already provisionally decided that we would pop out of texas and into Oklahoma before coming back in on the west side of Texas, where we had other cities we wished to visit. With this in mind we decided to see if we could reach Oklahoma today and reluctantly headed on.
Driving into Oklahoma was something else the land just seemed to expand and open up! It looked endless, there were huge expanses of lush green fields and cows! The cows had just had their babies and they are super cute, they play a lot and run around the field!
We eventually arrived in Oklahoma, where we popped into Applebee’s for a quick refuel. Whilst eating our waitress (also called Debbie) couldn’t help but offer us advice on where we should go! She suggested a place that was already on my ‘potential places to visit’ list. We were reminded again how helpful each person we meet is and how they are each proud of that state they come from. It’s nice to see positivity and pride for your home environment. After our meal we decided to head for the suggested place: Lake Murray.
I love arriving at the parks be it state or national, they are all so beautiful in their different ways. We managed to nab ourselves a quaint little cabin for the night, which was a bit of luck as we’d driven so far. After checking in we sat down for a bit and then decided to go for a little drive around the park to view the sunset before going to dinner.
The restaurant on the main grounds had shut by the time we got there so had to go for a short drive to another one that was on the grounds. I only mention this because I got to try catfish! Cat fish seems to be a really popular dish in the south. What can I say really, it’s quite chunky, you get a lot of it and doesn’t really taste of much! I can see why they put a lot of cajun spice on it. It’s smooth and there were no bones. Really never had anything like it!
