We didn’t make our target destination yesterday due to a combination of the heat and the increased milage it takes to get around Texas. We were pleased to have stayed at Lake Lavaca, even though it was not a planned stop! It was a very clean motel room.
This morning we covered the remainder of our drive to Corpus Christi. We both really wanted to see what the beaches were like here in Texas simply because it’s not really a place you instantly imagine when you think of a beach. We took a short walk on the beach, which was very crowded. It seems very fun for families as you can rent a spot, that has a picnic table and you can drive your vehicle onto the beach in behind your ‘spot’, letting you have all your things nearby.
We enjoyed the trip to the beach but it was a tad cloudy, we’ve noticed it can be quite cool in the mornings and then really warm up in the afternoon. Today it soon cheered up and reached 30c (87f), it was a pleasant day, although the numbers say it’s hotter than yesterday it didn’t really feel so.
We drove north heading towards San Antonio, stopping at all the cowboy boot shops we could find. Ben previously picked up a pair on his travels and now it was my turn! Alas, today I didn’t manage to find the perfect pair, but I know that good things come to those who wait, so watch this space!
Today really tested out the truck, something I hadn’t really noticed at the time of pick up was that it doesn’t have a step on the side, which for Ben is fine but for me a tad challenging. I’ve been trying my best to get in and out of the truck! For me I literally have to jump out and hold onto the handle on the ceiling to get in! I am trying to master doing so in a lady like fashion or at least look cool when doing so!
After a long drive we made it to San Antonio for our drive through of the city before calling it a day.
