After a very disturbed nights sleep the day begun with a rather unusual activity in Kansas. A short drive away in the town of Topeka, where we’re were staying was a chance to be involved in a mystery game! We were taking part in an adventure, which left us locked in a room together attempting to solve a murder by searching the room for hidden objects, resolving puzzles and decrypting the clues to earn our freedom. We had an hour to complete the task, so we got underway. It turned out to be a very complex puzzle in end and unfortunately we didn’t manage to solve the whole thing in time, although we had a good go! It was extremely fun and we felt like CSI’s which was quite a novelty.
After gaining our freedom we set off to Kansas City for an activity I’d managed to keep secret from Ben to allow for a little surprise! Oddly Kansas City is another of those half and half’s that are right in the border of two states, much like Washington DC. Most of Kansas City is actually considered to be in Missouri, so this technicality insured that we actually visited two states today. We had a nice lunch and headed into a place called Tapcade! This is an arcade that houses many old games, such as Donkey Kong and Pacman. Ben is a massive fan of games and had a whale of a time slowly going around the thirty or so machines. After a number of addicting hours we sat down and played some console games for a bit before the hunt for dinner and accommodation began.
Ben really enjoyed his day and had great time being able to do some gaming related activities. I’m so glad it all worked out and that he had fun after being stuck behind the wheel so much!
