Whew! What a long few days it has been! Although we’ve had several long drives and Ben even gained a swollen ankle from it, though thankfully he wasn’t in any pain! We are not complaining, this is still an amazing experience and the trip of a lifetime! We think the ankle issue was a result of poor Ben sitting in the same position for so long and because we’ve had a couple of small beds to squish into! The truck is extremely roomie, Ben even let me have a little go back in Seattle 😉 so I can’t imagine how he would have made it through these long drives without such a big car!

Those pesky deers! ;)

Today, unfortunately, would be no different for us, this middle bit is long and difficult but we are still in good spirits and positive. The miles seem never ending as the time to go home creeps up on us, so we must press on. We need to drive back east of North Dakota towards our next state; Minnesota so our activity today took this into account. It was a bizarre one for sure, we drove along something called The Enchanted Highway. Nestled in the back country roads, along the green hills someone has created some huge metal structures shaped in various scenes, quite bizarre and amazing at the same time! Just another of the many examples of the care and attention to detail put into the long roadsides here.

Driving 231 miles we almost made it to the edge of the state, but not quite, our reward was staying in a rather luxurious hotel at a good price! The rest of our drive has been mainly uneventful. We sped past numerous green fields and farms, marvelling at some out their farm machinery that drove past us! Kind of felt like something out of a star wars movie to be honest, god knows what it was!

Ps: Ben’s ankle is all fine now, I’ve kept a close eye on him and we are proactively taking measures to make sure it doesn’t happen again! 🙂
