Today we reached Georgia! Feeling good after yesterday’s antics, and our little tipple once we finally settled into our motel. We drove on through the state until we reached the coastal town of Savannah.

This town is really a mix of old and new, a bit like Canterbury. There are lots of old streets and buildings and areas of modern development. On the drive here and through both North and South Carolina we have noticed a lot of billboards advertising churches and God in general, alongside the push for peaches! The radio is now picking up a lot of stations playing pop songs about religion. These States have been fairly quiet to drive through the neighbourhoods.

After a quick lunch we decided to head further south before checking in for the night. We ended up in a small town called Hinesville.

Being Valentines day, we celebrated in both a common and uncommon fashion for us. First went for dinner at a local Kobe Steakhouse, the food was incredible (I guess they really massaged that cow!). After making sure we could barely move we drove a short way to enjoy a night out at a small local cinema. American cinemas are very generous on the leg room and overall personal space, something the long legged Ben greatly appreciated. It was also nice not see his knees rammed into the seat infront for once.

We saw deadpool, quite a novel experience to do something so normal as watch a film in another country. The cinema experience is so different here! Besides the extra room Americans are so out-going that they all join in laughing and clapping, a bit of an odd thing for us Brits just sat quietly! It was a great experience and a good giggle! A great evening 🙂
